HORNETS SWIM TEAM

Interested in participating in Swim Team? Please contact the Swim Reps (Larry Barnes, Emily Harshaw and Christie Goodman) at hlhornets.admin030@gmail.com
so that you will be sure to receive all the information.

OVERVIEW

Hamilton Lakes Hornets participate in the Community Swim Association. The team is made up of kids ages 5 through seniors in High School. Each week Hamilton Lakes will swim in a dual meet against another team that finished either a little ahead of or a little behind us at the City Championship. Upon completion of the Dual Meet season, a City Swimming Championship is held over a three-day period at Greensboro’s Lindley Pool swimming complex.

Participation on the swim team, builds discipline, encourages fitness, and develops swimming skills. During dual meets, swimmers are timed and scored in the four major strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly). Children are encouraged to do their own personal best, while being part of a team effort.

All parents of Hamilton Lakes swimmers are asked to work at least two swim meets per season.  Job descriptions are in the Parent Handbook.  Please sign up on the Volunteer Sheet posted in the clubhouse.

JUNIOR Swim Team

If you are not sure your child is ready for the Hamilton Lakes Swim Team, try joining the Hamilton Lakes Junior Swim Team. Last year this took the place of our former Bumblebee’s program and it was a huge success!!

The price is $80.00 for 8 sessions. Each session will be 45 minutes in length. There are a total of 10 sessions available. You can add 2 more sessions if needed for $10 each session or use the 2 extra sessions as make-up sessions if you miss a session.

Each session will have 10 children swimming and will be located at the Greensboro College Pool (Old YMCA downtown Greensboro)
Session 1 will be from 3:00-3:45
Session 2 will be from 3:45-4:30

Sessions are on the following dates:
April 9th, 10th, 16th, 17th & 30th
May 1st, 7th, 8th, 14th & 15th

Barbara Vaughan and Frances Deering will be the instructors. Barbara and Frances are both certified WSI’s (Water Safety Instructors) and between the two of them, they have over 36 years of experience teaching swim lessons.

How do you know if your child is ready for the Junior Swim Team? First of all, this is a stepping stone to swim team, so you would not do this program if your intent was not for your child to join swim team. Click here to see "Swim Levels", a document to help you discover various WSI levels that help you figure out where your child is currently and where he/she needs to be to join swim team. Your child needs to be at a level 3 for swim team.

If you have any questions or would like to sign up please contact Barbara Vaughan at bartisvaughan@earthlink.net or 314-2412

Greensboro Community Swim Association (click here to view their website)

The Community Swim Association (CSA) is a nonprofit organization comprised of 22 local swim clubs in the Greensboro, NC metropolitan area. CSA encourages and promotes competitive summer swimming as a part of the programs offered by the member community pools. Each of the swim clubs has two CSA representatives who attend organizational meetings and vote on CSA rules and policies.

CSA conducts weekly dual meets over a five-week period beginning in June and ending in mid-July. Beginning in 2007, the dual meet schedule is determined according to the order of finish in the previous year’s City Championship Meet.

For more information, visit GreensboroCSA.org. There you may access CSA rules and procedures, meet results, and current announcements.
